Anyone get the new Ron Paul Gold coin?

2 Attachment(s)
Attachment 56765

The frontside of this piece displays the engaging image of Dr. Ron Paul during his historic 2008 Presidential Campaign. The outer ring of the Gold piece declares Ron Paul is the "Champion of the Constitution" and commemorates the beginning of his "Campaign for Liberty". Minted in the finest 1.6 Ounces (50 Grams) of .9999 Fine Gold, in a proof-like finish, in brilliant uncirculated condition. This gold piece should be in the collection of anyone who values sound money and our beloved Constitution.

The backside displays the stunning imagery of the US Constitution rising over the Earth, behind a rising sun symbolizing the restoring of the republic. The Latin phrase below the words "Restore the Republic", "Erudio, Strenuus, Restituo", translate to: "Educate, Activate, Restore".

What he said.

I've some fractional gold coins however, not a full oz. coin and this would be a sentimental first!

You mean why they chose 50 grams as opposed to 31.1034768 grams.

If the back really is that detailed, it would be a great addition to any collection.

Should have been a profile.

I would like to have one if had been a classic profile coin.

Well I decided to get a silver one -- seeing I never got my liberty mint coin!

$50 for the silver coin, that's quite a premium! I couldn't see purchasing that for anything but the numismatic value.

Probably so they could use the same die on both the silver and gold coin.

Wouldn't that require a different, custom thickness of the planchets?

Re: Anyone get the new Ron Paul Gold coin?

In this country, you need something called votes to get elected. Paul's record speaks for itself. The Constitution limits government power, in today's world where everyone expects a bailout and waits for the government to help them instead of helping themselves, Ron Paul is a rare politician. He refuses to pay off his voters with big time pork and taxpayer money. If you can name a better champion, I'm waiting.

Yes, but that isn't a big deal at all. One ounce of pure gold would be too thin at this diameter.
